Rare earth stocks in Canada

Live delayed prices for Canadian rare earth and critical-minerals companies, with the separation and processing bottleneck, Chinese export controls and government funding explained.

Rare earth elements are not geologically rare. The bottleneck is separation and refining, and China controls the overwhelming majority of that capacity. Every Western rare earth investment case ultimately turns on whether a company can get its material processed outside that system.

Canada's listed exposure is a small group of deposit owners, one operating separation facility in Saskatchewan, and a handful of processing-technology plays. Government funding announcements and export-control news out of Beijing have historically moved these shares far more than any production milestone.

Frequently asked

Are there rare earth mines in Canada?
Canada has several advanced rare earth deposits and a commercial separation facility in Saskatchewan, but no large-scale domestic mine feeding a full domestic supply chain yet.
Why do rare earth stocks jump on Chinese policy news?
China dominates refining capacity. Any export restriction raises the strategic value of non-Chinese supply, and the market reprices Western developers accordingly.
Which rare earths actually matter commercially?
Mostly neodymium and praseodymium for permanent magnets, plus dysprosium and terbium for high-temperature magnet performance. A deposit's value depends on its share of these, not total tonnes.
