About Vanguard Global Aggregate Bond Index ETF (CAD-hedged)
This fund employs a passive investment strategy, or indexing, with the objective of mirroring the performance of the CAD-Hedged Bloomberg Global Aggregate Float Adjusted Composite Index. The sub-advisor selectively invests in securities, matching the key risk characteristics of the target index. This selective investment method aims to reduce trading costs and avoid less liquid assets found in the index, while still achieving similar returns. Additionally, the ETF uses financial derivatives to manage and hedge the foreign currency risk of the index's underlying securities, converting them to Canadian dollars. As an alternative approach, the ETF may choose to invest most, if not all, of its assets directly in the bonds comprising the index, holding them in proportions closely reflecting their weight within the index.
