Prospect Ridge Has Reported 979 Metres of Excalibur Core and Not One Assay From It

The company's 10 September description of its first two porphyry holes is a visual log, the shares rose 38.5 per cent five days later on no new document, and the laboratory results that would settle the question are still outstanding.

Prospect Ridge Resources Corp. (CSE: PRR) reported long intervals of alteration and sulphide mineralisation in the first two holes at its Excalibur copper-gold project in British Columbia on 10 September 2026, with assays still at the laboratory. On 15 September the shares closed at C$0.09, up 38.5 per cent, on 6.18 times their average exchange volume, with nothing new filed. What the logs describe, and what they cannot, is the whole question before Wednesday's open.

Prospect Ridge Resources Corp. has not reported an assay from Excalibur. It has reported 979 metres of core from two holes, described by eye, with the samples still at a laboratory.

That distinction is the whole of the story in front of anyone looking at the company before Wednesday's open, because the shares moved 38.5 per cent on 15 September 2026 and the most recent document the company filed is dated 10 September.

Alteration is a signature, not a grade

Hydrothermal alteration is what hot, chemically active water does to rock it passes through. It dissolves the original minerals and grows new ones. Geologists map it because it traces the plumbing of a mineral system: the alteration tells you fluid moved here, in volume, and how hot and how chemically aggressive it was.

It does not tell you what the fluid was carrying. A barren system and an ore-grade system can leave alteration that looks similar in core.

The same applies to the sulphides. Pyrite is iron sulphide and has no economic value on its own; in porphyry systems it usually forms a wide halo around whatever is worth mining. Chalcopyrite is the copper mineral that matters. Molybdenite carries molybdenum. Which of the three dominates, and in what proportion, is the difference between a target and a deposit, and the proportions in a visual log are an estimate made through a hand lens on a wet core tray.

What the two holes describe

Prospect Ridge reported on 10 September 2026 that EXC26-001, drilled to 515 metres, intersected "515 meters of variably intense hydrothermal alteration and pyrite-dominant disseminated sulphide mineralization" in felsic intrusive and intermediate volcanic rocks. The company described the sulphides as "mostly pyrite, locally increasing over intervals of 10 and 20 cm", with "minor amounts of chalcopyrite and molybdenite".

The second hole, EXC26-002, reached 464 metres. The company reported structurally controlled silicification over approximately 70 metres between 11 and 131 metres, then potassic alteration over a combined 225 metres between 131 and 464 metres, with trace pyrite-dominant sulphide and rare chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite.

Potassic alteration is the detail in that paragraph worth slowing down for, and it is a real positive. It is the potassium-rich mineral assemblage that forms closest to the heat source in a porphyry system, and in most productive districts it sits at or near the centre. Finding 225 metres of it in the second hole ever drilled on the property is a meaningful piece of information about where the system is, and it is the best argument in the release.

It is also, on its own, an argument about position rather than grade. The company's first hole logged copper minerals as "minor" and the second as "rare". Neither description is a measurement.

Prospect Ridge says as much in the release. Visual descriptions of core, it states, are "only qualitative and not quantitative", and it cautions strongly against treating them as a definitive indicator of grade, thickness or mineral distribution. That caution is standard language in Canadian exploration disclosure, and it is accurate.

Read across that table and the pattern is consistent: a large, well-developed alteration system, and copper minerals described in the two weakest words available to a geologist writing a release. Neither hole has produced a number.

Samples from both holes have gone to ALS Minerals. The company gave no expected date for results. Four drill pads were prepared, two holes have been completed, and the programme has been paused while the company assesses what it has.

Ron Voordouw, Ph.D., P.Geo., chief operating officer of Equity Exploration Consultants Ltd., is named as the qualified person for the technical disclosure. Len Brownlie, Ph.D., is president and chief executive, and Mike Iverson is chairman, per the same 10 September release. Ellis Martin was appointed to the board on 1 September 2026.

Five days later, on nothing new

The gap between the last document and the share price has to be described exactly.

Prospect Ridge closed at C$0.09 on 15 September 2026, up 38.5 per cent, or 2.5 cents, from C$0.065. The day's range was C$0.065 to C$0.11 and the volume-weighted average price was C$0.0778, per Canadian Securities Exchange data (15-minute delayed, read after the close). The company's market value at that close was C$10.25 million on 113.84 million shares.

The volume figures need splitting apart, because two different numbers circulate. Volume on the exchange itself was 2.13 million shares against a 30-day average of 344,930, or 6.18 times normal. A further 1.15 million shares traded on alternative trading systems, the private venues that match Canadian orders away from the listing exchange, taking the day's total to 3.28 million. Both are real trading. Only the first is what most quote screens compare against an average.

No release was issued on 14 or 15 September 2026. Nothing in the company's own newsroom, and nothing on its wire feed, is dated after 10 September. Whatever moved the shares on Tuesday, it was not a new disclosure, and any explanation offered for it on Wednesday morning will be an inference rather than a document.

A comparable from five days earlier

Maple looked at exactly this sequence on 10 September, when Juggernaut Exploration fell roughly a third on the day its first Big One assays replaced the visual descriptions that had carried the story for weeks. The two situations are not identical: different district, different commodity mix, different stage. What they share is the structure. A market prices a visual log, the laboratory returns a number, and the number is the only one of the two that is reproducible.

The comparison is not a forecast in either direction, and it would be dishonest to use it as one. Assays sometimes come back better than the visual log implied, particularly where copper is fine-grained and easy to under-call through a hand lens, and porphyry systems with long potassic intervals are exactly the setting where that happens. The narrow statement is the accurate one: the shares are being priced on a description, and a measurement exists that will replace it.

The money question the filings leave open

The last financing Prospect Ridge announced closed on 18 March 2026: 5,000,000 flow-through shares at C$0.09 for gross proceeds of C$450,000, with C$31,500 in cash finder's fees and 350,000 finder's warrants at C$0.15 for two years.

A flow-through share is a Canadian tax instrument. The company renounces its exploration tax deductions to the buyer, who pays a premium for them, and in exchange the money can only be spent on eligible Canadian exploration expenses. It funds drilling well and funds nothing else.

Two porphyry holes totalling 979 metres, four prepared pads and a paused programme are the operational facts against that C$450,000. The company has announced no further financing since March, and the terms of any next one would determine what a share bought at nine cents this week is worth in percentage terms later. That is a question the published documents do not answer.

The rock has already answered the other one. The assays were determined in the ground long before Monday, they are sitting in a queue at ALS Minerals, and nobody trading the shares on Tuesday had seen them.
