The fund aims to provide consistent monthly income distributions and preserve its net asset value. It primarily invests in a diverse portfolio of income-generating corporate securities, focusing on investment-grade preferred stocks—including traditional, trust, hybrid, and contingent-capital types—as well as corporate debt instruments such as subordinated and senior bonds. These securities are issued by global entities and denominated in Canadian or U.S. dollars. While the portfolio predominantly consists of investment-grade assets, it retains the flexibility to allocate up to 25% to non-investment-grade securities, provided that at least 75% of the portfolio's market value maintains an investment-grade rating. The portfolio managers have extensive autonomy to adjust the fund's composition, allowing the ETF to invest, directly or indirectly, in assets beyond its core strategy, potentially encompassing equities, various fixed income products, futures contracts, and other exchange-traded funds.
