Evergold Drills 7.7 Grams of Gold a Tonne at Its Golden Lion Project

The first six of sixteen holes all returned gold, the shares closed 20 per cent lower at C$0.36, and true widths, ten holes and every base-metal assay remain outstanding.

Evergold Corp. (TSXV: EVER) reported assays on 2 October 2026 from the first six of sixteen 2026 holes at the GL1 zone of Golden Lion in northern British Columbia. Hole GL26-031 returned 4.9 metres at 7.70 g/t gold and 186.0 g/t silver. All six holes hit gold. The shares closed at C$0.36, down 20 per cent, on about nineteen times average volume. True widths are not known, assays are uncapped, and ten holes remain at the laboratory.

The best interval Evergold Corp. has drilled at Golden Lion in five years came out of a hole the company reported on 2 October 2026, and the shares fell 20 per cent the same day.

Evergold trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol EVER. Its release that morning, carried on ACCESS Newswire, gave assay results from the first six of sixteen diamond drill holes completed this year at the GL1 zone of the Golden Lion property, in the Toodoggone district of northern British Columbia. Hole GL26-031 returned 4.9 metres grading 7.70 grams of gold and 186.0 grams of silver per tonne, sitting inside a wider 13.5-metre run averaging 2.84 grams of gold and 127.65 grams of silver. Per market data read after the close, 15-minute delayed and not checked against any filing, the stock went from C$0.45 to C$0.36 on 406,052 shares against a thirty-day average of 20,929, or about nineteen times normal turnover, with a day's range of C$0.32 to C$0.44.

A grade in grams per tonne is simply how much metal sits in a tonne of rock. Seven and a bit grams of gold is roughly the weight of a one-dollar coin spread through a tonne of stone, which sounds like nothing and is in fact a good grade for an open-pit target. The question a release like this raises is not whether the number is good. It is how much rock the number describes.

Every hole hit gold, and one of them hit something better

All six reported holes returned at least one interval above the company's reporting threshold, which in an early drill programme is itself the result. Hole GL26-027 gave 53.23 metres averaging 0.94 grams of gold and 3.8 grams of silver. GL26-026 gave 44.00 metres at 0.74 grams of gold and 6.87 grams of silver, plus a shallower 18.75 metres at 0.49 grams. GL26-030 gave 22.50 metres at 0.42 grams and a second run of 19.50 metres at 0.49 grams with 12.6 grams of silver. GL26-028 and GL26-029 returned thinner and weaker intervals, the best of them 15.00 metres at 0.34 grams.

GL26-031 is the outlier, and the company said so. Alex Walcott, named as President and Chief Executive Officer in that release, called it the standout, and placed its high-grade core about 100 metres along trend from the best hole Evergold drilled in 2021. The 2021 comparison is the company's own: GL21-024 returned 66 metres at 1.36 grams of gold and GL21-025 returned 11.3 metres at 5.4 grams, both drilled in 2021. Those are historical figures from a programme that ended five years ago, and they are cited here as the company cites them.

Mineralisation begins shallow. The reported intervals in GL26-026, GL26-027 and GL26-030 start between roughly 56 and 119 metres of vertical depth. For a target that would eventually be mined from surface, depth matters as much as grade, because rock you do not have to move is rock you do not have to pay for.

A 0.30-gram cut-off and three metres of dilution are doing work inside that 13.5 metres

Evergold printed the rules it used, in a footnote, and the rules change what the headline interval means.

Composites were calculated at a 0.30 gram per tonne gold cut-off with up to 3 metres of internal dilution. A cut-off is the lowest grade of rock allowed into an average. Internal dilution is the amount of below-cut-off rock that can be carried along inside a reported interval without ending it. So a 13.5-metre interval at 2.84 grams may contain up to three metres of rock running under 0.30 grams, and the average absorbs it. That is standard practice and it is disclosed. It also means the interval is a calculated envelope, not a continuous slab of 2.84-gram rock.

Assays are uncapped. Capping means putting a ceiling on unusually rich single samples so that one spectacular result cannot pull a whole average upward. Evergold has applied no ceiling, which is normal at this stage and which puts more weight on the 7.70-gram core than a capped calculation would.

True widths are not yet known, and the company says so in the same footnote. Every length in the release is measured along the drill hole. If a hole cuts a mineralised structure at an angle rather than square on, the real thickness of that structure is less than the drilled length, sometimes much less. Until the geometry is modelled, 13.5 metres is a distance travelled, not a thickness.

None of that makes the result weak. It makes it preliminary in a specific, nameable way, and the company has labelled it correctly.

The release prints two different grades for the same interval

Inside hole GL26-027 there is a higher-grade section between 116.65 and 126.00 metres. The release reports it twice, and the two reports do not agree.

Where it appearsLengthGoldSilver
Highlights table and release text9.4 m2.26 g/t6.5 g/t
Full composite table9.35 m1.98 g/t7.3 g/t

The gold figures differ by about 14 per cent, and the higher of the two is the one carried in the highlights. Evergold had issued no correction as of 2 October 2026. One of the numbers is wrong, and the company is the only party that can say which. The lower figure is a good result too. But the highlights and the full table send anyone who quotes them away with different numbers for the same nine and a bit metres.

The silver figures in the flagship interval wobble in the same small way, printed as 127.6, 127.65 and 127.7 grams per tonne in different places. That one is almost certainly rounding and changes nothing.

The geologist who signed the numbers is the executive chairman

Canadian disclosure rules require a qualified person, meaning a credentialled geologist or engineer who takes professional responsibility for technical information in a release. Evergold's is C.J. "Charlie" Greig, P.Geo., and the release states plainly that he is the company's Executive Chairman and is not independent of it.

That is permitted and it is common at this size. It is also the reason the disclosure exists: the sign-off is internal, and no arm's-length technical review stands behind it. Samples from the 2026 programme went to MSA Labs in Prince George and gold and silver were measured by PhotonAssay on roughly 500-gram samples, with certified standards, blanks and duplicates inserted at 2 to 4 per cent of the sample stream. The laboratory is independent even where the sign-off is not.

One reconciliation is worth the space. Walcott has been President and Chief Executive Officer since 19 January 2026, when Evergold announced that Kevin Keough had stepped down from the role and from the board and that Leon Ho, CPA, had become Chief Financial Officer. Read on 2 October 2026, the company's own management page still named Keough as President and Chief Executive Officer and Tracy Albert as Chief Financial Officer. The releases are current; the website is eight months behind them.

Ten holes remain at the laboratory, and so does every base metal

Evergold completed 16 holes totalling 3,988 metres at GL1 between July and August 2026. Six are reported. Ten are not. Base-metal results for copper, lead and zinc on the six reported holes have also not been returned, which matters more than it sounds: the July 2026 update described abundant base-metal sulphide veining in the core, and the ground immediately northeast of GL1 is the reason Evergold optioned the adjoining Copper King claims in August 2025.

In the 2 October 2026 release the company says it will fold the 2026 drilling, geophysics and surface work into a three-dimensional model once all results are in, to plan a 2027 programme. There is no mineral resource estimate at Golden Lion, and the 2 October release does not suggest one. A resource estimate is a formal, audited count of tonnes and grade prepared under National Instrument 43-101. Six holes with assays and ten without is a long way from that count, and the distance is the honest description of where the project sits.

At C$8.4 million, April's buyers are a long way under their issue price

Evergold consolidated its shares ten to one effective 17 October 2025, cutting 120,075,696 shares as at 15 September 2025 to roughly 12 million. It then raised C$5,406,347.45 gross on 6 April 2026: 6,612,758 units at C$0.55, each carrying half a warrant exercisable at C$0.80 for 24 months, and 2,722,047 flow-through shares at C$0.65. A flow-through share passes the company's Canadian exploration tax deduction to the buyer, who pays a premium for it. Finders took C$217,460 in cash and 378,234 warrants. Shares outstanding as at 6 April 2026 were 22,754,462.

At C$0.36 the equity is worth roughly C$8.4 million. The April unit buyers at C$0.55 are about 35 per cent below their price, the flow-through buyers at C$0.65 about 45 per cent below, and the C$0.80 warrants sit at more than twice the market. Insiders took part in that financing: Alexander Walcott subscribed for 61,540 flow-through shares, Charles Greig for 77,000, and director Brian Butterworth for 60,000 units.

What that raise has bought so far is 3,988 metres of drilling and a 264 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic survey. The cash left after it is a figure in the interim financial statements for the period ended 30 June 2026, filed on SEDAR+ on 28 August 2026, and nothing Evergold has published since restates it. A material change report covering these drill results was filed on 2 October 2026 at 13:00 Eastern.

A company with roughly 23 million shares out is unusually tightly held for a Venture explorer, and 406,052 shares changing hands is a small absolute number against an C$8.4 million market value. A move of this size in a book that thin is a repricing among a handful of holders, not a verdict delivered by institutional money. It should not be read as either more or less than that.

Six holes have told Evergold that gold at GL1 is shallow, continuous enough to composite over tens of metres, and locally rich. They have not told anyone how wide the rock is, how far it runs, or what the copper does. Ten holes decide whether GL26-031 is the edge of a high-grade shoot or a good hole with quieter company around it.
