Four Holes, Three Intrusions and No Assays: What Perseverance Metals' 93.8 Per Cent Day Rests On

The Voyageur drilling found a sulphide-bearing intrusion about 65 kilometres from the only primary nickel mine operating in the United States, and every number that would turn it into a discovery is still at the laboratory.

Perseverance Metals reported on September 9, 2026 that three of four diamond drill holes into the blind Osprey target at its Voyageur project in Michigan had intersected a mafic-ultramafic intrusion up to 50 metres thick carrying 3 to 8 per cent magmatic sulphides, with portable XRF confirming nickel and copper. Assays are pending. The shares closed at C$0.93, up 93.8 per cent, adding roughly C$17.4 million of market value on a release that contains no grade.

The Eagle mine in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is the only primary nickel mine operating in the United States, and it sits in a belt of small, high-grade intrusions that are difficult to find and valuable when somebody does. That is the frame retail investors reach for whenever a junior reports sulphides anywhere near it.

Perseverance Metals Inc. reported on September 9, 2026 that four diamond drill holes had tested the blind Osprey geophysical target at its Voyageur project, roughly 65 kilometres west of Eagle, and that three of them intersected a mafic-ultramafic intrusion up to 50 metres thick. The release describes three phases within the intrusion, including a basal coarse-grained peridotite carrying 3 to 8 per cent magmatic sulphides, both interstitial and as chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite blebs and globules, with portable X-ray fluorescence confirming that those sulphides are nickel and copper bearing. Assay results, intrusion geochemistry and sulphide petrography are all stated as pending, and the technical content was approved by Michael J Tucker, P.Geo.

The market did not wait for any of that. The shares closed at C$0.93, up C$0.45 or 93.8 per cent on the day.

What the word "fertile" is doing here

A mafic-ultramafic intrusion is a body of magma from deep in the mantle that cooled in the crust. When such a magma becomes saturated in sulphur, droplets of sulphide separate out and scavenge nickel, copper and platinum-group metals from the surrounding melt, then settle toward the base of the chamber. An intrusion that carries visible magmatic sulphides in its basal phase is what exploration geologists call fertile: the process that makes deposits of this type ran here.

That is a real and uncommon result, and the release does establish it. Most magnetic and electromagnetic targets of this kind, drilled blind, return barren rock, and three hits in four holes into a target nobody had previously drilled is a good day's work by any standard.

It is also a statement about a process, not a measurement of a metal. Sulphide percentage is not nickel percentage: 3 to 8 per cent sulphides describes how much sulphide is in the rock, and says nothing about how much nickel is in the sulphide. Portable XRF is a hand-held field screen that reads elements at a rock surface; it tells a geologist which minerals to look at next, and no company treats it as an assay, including this one, which says so.

The release and the tape, line by line

None of the right-hand column is a criticism of the company; to the company's credit the middle column is not where it put its own emphasis. Every item in it is something Perseverance itself flags as outstanding, which is the correct way to publish a first look at a new target. The gap is between the document and the reading the tape gave it.

Seventeen point four million dollars of market value, and no grade

The close was C$0.93 against a previous close of C$0.48, with a high of C$0.93, a low of C$0.65 and a volume-weighted average price of C$0.73. Turnover was 1.29 million shares on the TSX Venture Exchange with a further 92,426 on alternative venues (QuoteMedia, 15-minute delayed feed, September 9, 2026; not verified against SEDAR+ filings, which could not be reached during this run).

On about 38.61 million shares outstanding, that C$0.45 move is roughly C$17.4 million of market value added in a session, taking the company to about C$35.91 million. It was created by a release containing no grade.

The volume-weighted average price is the number worth keeping. At C$0.73 against a C$0.93 close, most of the day's shares changed hands well below where the stock finished, which is the ordinary signature of a late push on thinning supply rather than a day of sustained institutional buying.

Where the paper sits above the tape

The share price does not exist in isolation on a venture board; it sits inside a stack of previously issued paper, and Perseverance's is unusually well documented. In February 2026 the company announced a private placement of up to C$3 million in hard-dollar units at C$0.65. It closed C$3,499,987 on March 10, 2026 and a second and final tranche of C$4,715,503 on March 23, 2026, for gross proceeds of C$8,215,490.

The second tranche is the one that matters today: 4,623,042 Québec flow-through units at C$1.02, each unit carrying one share and one half warrant, the warrants exercisable at C$0.95 for 36 months and accelerable if the shares trade at C$1.30 or higher for ten consecutive trading days. Subscribers named in the release included Teck Resources Limited, NQ Investissement Minier and Altius Minerals. The company also issued 1,775,000 incentive stock options at C$0.65 on March 24, 2026.

So today's C$0.93 sits above the hard-dollar unit price of C$0.65 and the option strike, and below both the C$0.95 warrant exercise price and the C$1.02 flow-through subscription price. That is a factual description of where existing holders are, and it is a more useful map of the next few dimes than any chart pattern.

One further detail from the same release deserves attention from anyone modelling the Michigan programme. The flow-through proceeds are designated for Canadian exploration expenses at the Lac Gayot project in Québec, with renunciation by December 31, 2026 and the spending required by December 31, 2027. Flow-through money is legally committed to Canadian ground. Cash and equivalents stood at roughly C$7.53 million against liabilities of about C$2.85 million on the same secondary feed, and a meaningful share of that treasury cannot be spent at Voyageur.

What Voyageur actually is, and one detail the coverage keeps getting wrong

Voyageur is a 680 square-kilometre land package in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with nine high-priority targets defined by airborne surveys. Perseverance holds it under an option agreement announced on August 1, 2023 with Bitterroot Resources Ltd. and Altius Minerals, whose terms included a 20 per cent equity stake in Perseverance distributed pro rata to their shareholders, C$2,000,000 of exploration spending by the end of 2025, and a C$5,000,000 financing within 18 months.

The detail that has drifted: the 2023 documents describe Eagle as Lundin Mining's mine, and it was. Talon Metals Corp. completed the acquisition of Eagle and the Humboldt mill on January 9, 2026. Anyone reading the older Voyageur material alongside today's release is looking at two different owners of the same benchmark.

A royalty on Voyageur has been discussed at length in retail forums today. No royalty terms appear in any of the documents reviewed for this piece, so no royalty figure is carried here.

What would change the reading, and what would not

Assays are the event, and their usefulness depends on what comes with them: nickel and copper grades over stated intervals, whether those intervals are true widths or core lengths, the laboratory named, and the quality-control procedure described. Grades over meaningful widths would change this a great deal. Grades that show sulphides poor in metal would change it just as much in the other direction, and that outcome is common in fertile intrusions.

Two things would change it less than they will appear to. More holes into the same intrusion, without either a widening or a grade, extend a picture that already exists. A downhole electromagnetic survey finding an off-hole conductor moves the drill, not the metal content, though it is the sensible next spend.

On the financing side, the observable item is straightforward: a raise priced at or above the current tape funds the follow-up and dilutes holders, while one priced back toward the March hard-dollar level would say something about demand that today's session does not.

The view

Perseverance published a careful release. It labelled its pXRF readings as pXRF, it called the petrography and geochemistry pending rather than implying them, and it did not describe an intrusion as a deposit. On a venture board in September that restraint is genuinely worth more than it looks, and it is the reason this piece can be specific about what is missing: the company was specific first.

The honest position for a holder is that the odds improved and the evidence did not yet arrive. A fertile intrusion is a necessary condition for a deposit of this type and nowhere near a sufficient one, and the distance between the two is exactly the distance between a photograph of core and a certificate of analysis.

Retail money paid about C$17.4 million today for that distance, and the distance is settled by a laboratory rather than by a photograph. There is nothing improper in that; it is what a venture board is for, and every large discovery once looked exactly like this. Most of them also once looked exactly like the ones that never became anything, and on the evidence filed today there is no way to tell which of the two this is.
