How Much Gold Does B2Gold Need in the Second Half?
The company said on 14 October 2026 that it will publish third quarter figures after the North American close on 4 November, and the first half already accounts for 441,411 ounces of a full-year range it narrowed in August.
B2Gold Corp. (TSX: BTO) said on 14 October 2026 that it will release third quarter results after the North American close on Wednesday 4 November 2026, with a conference call the following morning. The quarter being reported runs against a production range the company narrowed in August to 820,000 to 920,000 ounces, and against a half-year cost figure that sits below the full-year range it guided. The shares are also listed in Frankfurt as 5BG.

A date is not usually news. This one is useful because it tells you when a set of open questions gets answered.
B2Gold Corp. said on 14 October 2026 that it will publish its third quarter results after the North American markets close on Wednesday 4 November 2026, and hold a conference call the next morning at 11:00 am Eastern. The announcement was signed by Clive T. Johnson, president and chief executive officer. It contains no financial information of its own.
What makes it worth marking is the state of the figures the company has already filed.
The company and where it digs
B2Gold describes itself in that release as a responsible international gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, with operating gold mines in Canada, Mali, Namibia and the Philippines.
The Canadian mine is Goose, in Nunavut. The Mali operation is the Fekola complex, the Namibian one is Otjikoto, and the Philippine one is Masbate. Four mines, four jurisdictions, and a fairly even spread of production between them, which is a different risk profile from a single-asset producer.
For 2026 the company guides Fekola to 390,000 to 420,000 ounces, Masbate to 180,000 to 200,000, Goose to 170,000 to 200,000 and Otjikoto to 80,000 to 100,000.
Half the year is already on the record
The company reported production of 237,763 ounces of gold in the first quarter and 203,648 ounces in the second, in its results releases of 6 May 2026 and 6 August 2026. Together those put 441,411 ounces on the board at the halfway mark.
The full-year range was narrowed in August, from 820,000 to 970,000 ounces down to 820,000 to 920,000. Against the lower bound, the first half delivered about 54 per cent of the year. Against the upper bound, about 48 per cent.
The arithmetic from there is straightforward. Reaching the bottom of the range needs roughly 189,000 ounces in each of the third and fourth quarters, which is below what either of the first two quarters produced. Reaching the top needs about 239,000 ounces a quarter, which is above both.
So the lower half of the guided range is a continuation and the upper half requires an improvement. The 4 November figures are the first read on which it is going to be.
The cost figure points the other way
All-in sustaining cost is the industry's attempt at a full unit cost: mining and processing, plus the capital a mine needs to keep producing at the same rate, divided by ounces sold. It is not a regulated measure and companies calculate it differently, so it is only comparable within one company's own series.
B2Gold reported US$1,964 per ounce sold in the first quarter and US$2,356 in the second. Weighted by the ounces actually sold in each quarter, the half-year figure works out at about US$2,133 per ounce.
The full-year guidance range is US$2,370 to US$2,550 per ounce sold. The half-year number sits below it, which means the company's own guidance implies costs rise in the second half rather than holding where they have been. Rising unit costs late in a year are normal when the ounces in the back half are fewer or the stripping is heavier, and the third quarter is where that shows up.
Goose is the variable
An April 2026 fire damaged part of the crushing circuit at Goose and cut into second quarter output. The company put the repair cost at about US$13 million and said it expected the work to be finished in the third quarter, with an additional mobile crusher operating from early August.
That means the quarter reported on 4 November is the first full one in which Goose was meant to be whole again. Its 2026 range of 170,000 to 200,000 ounces is the widest, in percentage terms, of any of the four mines.
The second variable is in Mali. The Menankoto exploitation permit, which covers ground feeding the Fekola complex, was still pending at the August report. The company said Malian officials had confirmed the required steps were complete and that the permit awaited approval by the Council of Ministers.
Neither of those is in the company's gift, and both are the kind of item a quarterly report either resolves in a sentence or carries forward again.
More gold was sold than mined in the first quarter
Produced and sold are two different lines in a gold producer's accounts, and the gap between them is inventory: doré and concentrate sitting in a vault or on a ship at the quarter end.
The company reported sales of 276,346 ounces in the first quarter against 237,763 ounces produced, a difference of 38,583 ounces drawn out of stock. In the second quarter it reported 209,537 ounces sold against 203,648 produced, a much smaller gap.
The distinction matters when reading the cost line, because all-in sustaining cost is struck per ounce sold while production guidance is struck per ounce produced. A quarter that clears a backlog of unsold metal flatters the cost figure; a quarter that builds one does the reverse.
Anyone comparing the third quarter's cost per ounce with the second quarter's should check the sold figure beside it first.
The balance sheet moved in the first half
Cash and cash equivalents stood at US$479 million on 31 March 2026 and at US$287 million on 30 June 2026, according to the company's quarterly results releases. That is a draw of US$192 million across one quarter.
Second quarter gold revenue was US$789.4 million. A producer taking in revenue at that rate and still drawing cash down is spending heavily, and B2Gold has said the Goose build-out in Nunavut and sustaining capital across the four operating mines are where it is going.
Neither of those is a surprise for a company that brought a new arctic mine into production, and neither tells you how much further the draw runs. The third quarter balance is published alongside the production figures on 4 November 2026.
The company has not issued a release revising its 2026 guidance since 6 August 2026.
Where the shares trade
The listing a German holder uses is Frankfurt, under the symbol 5BG, with WKN A0M889 and ISIN CA11777Q2099, as Deutsche Börse's master data records it. The same security trades in Toronto as BTO, on NYSE American as BTG, and on the Namibian Stock Exchange as B2G, where IJG Securities acts as sponsor.
The identifiers differ; the company behind them does not, and so do the results that land on 4 November.
On 15 October 2026 the Toronto line closed at C$7.285, up 2.75 per cent, on volume at 0.49 times its 30-day average, for a market value of about C$9.62 billion. That is 15-minute delayed market data from QuoteMedia, secondary data not verified against SEDAR+ filings.
What 4 November actually settles
Three things become checkable that evening, and each can be measured against numbers the company has already filed rather than against anyone's expectations.
The first is Goose. The company reported that the crusher repairs were on track for completion in the third quarter, so the quarter being published is the first one in which the Nunavut mine was meant to be whole.
The second is the cost line. A half-year figure of about US$2,133 per ounce sold against a full-year range beginning at US$2,370 is a gap of roughly 10 per cent, and the third quarter either starts closing it or does not.
The third is Menankoto, where the company reported in August that the permit awaited a decision by Mali's Council of Ministers. A date on a calendar is the smallest kind of disclosure. This one has a fair amount hanging off it.

macroKinross Raised Its Cost Per Ounce Eight Per Cent, and the Arithmetic Points at the DenominatorKinross Gold cut its 2026 production outlook and raised its all-in sustaining cost outlook in one release on September 23, 2026. The cost figure went from about US$1,730 per ounce to US$1,850 to US$1,900 per ounce. Holding February's implied total cost dollars constant and dividing by the new ounce count gives US$1,870 per ounce, inside the new band. That is what a per-ounce cost measure does when the ounces go missing, and it is the single most useful thing to understand about a gold producer's headline cost number.Marc Belzile · September 26, 2026 · 8 min
